A “Rail and Greenway” Solution for Queens' Growing Economy

The QNS will connect to and relieves pressure on the Queens Boulevard Line (E, F, M, R), L, M, J, Z subway lines, and the LIRR. It expands system capacity, adds to system resiliency, and allows for less disruptive repairs. It would connect to the proposed IBX line at Metropolitan Ave. A parallel bike path along the line would give our borough’s cyclists a safe place to ride at a time when bike accidents are on the rise.

The QNS would expand service on freight rail lines to include passenger service with NYC Transit fares on the LMB (Lower Montauk Branch).

A cycling greenway running safely along the tracks and adjacent streets will offer more safety and access for cyclists, as auto traffic congestion rises along with tragic bicycle accidents.

Local transit stops would run from Jamaica to Long Island City on the LMB, and connect to the Interboro Express, providing access to Brooklyn as well.
