Local transit stops would run from Jamaica to Long Island City on the LMB and from Brooklyn through Glendale to Astoria, connecting Queens to Brooklyn on the Interboro Express.

Friends of the QNS is also advocating for a cycling greenway along the track right-of-way and adjacents streets. The QNS would be constructed to help create safe space for Queens’ cyclists in an era of growing traffic congestion and bicycle accidents.

Friends of the QNS, Inc. was formed as a New York State domestic not-for-profit corporation on June 14, 2019.

Subsequently, on June 18, 2019, Friends of the QNS, Inc. filed with the IRS a Notice of Intent to Operate as a 501(c)(4). The organization's purpose, as stated in its Certificate of Incorporation, is for "advocating for the improvement of mass transportation infrastructure, including the expansion of commuter rail service, in Queens County, New York."
